Games like Scarlet Nexus and Tales come from the same combat design background as action games like that (they all sprung up from fighting game concepts) but tend to simplify the combat in various ways. Or is this basically the standard for most JRPGs?Įdit: To avoid removal, I play with a PS5 consoleĪre you looking specifically for action RPGs?Ĭause honestly if you enjoy the combat I'd just recommend taking the next step and going into pure action games like DMC, Bayonetta etc. Is there any game there that is identical to these two? Or you know, even any close, I'll take it. But back to the point, they're more likely saturated on action, heck, they might as well be entirely categorized as action. Of course, I won't make assumptions of "copied version", I barely know a thing or two about JRPG niches. These two games are fairly the same if you look at it, even the pacing is somewhat similar. But there's something about these two that follow that same combat style and story dynamic that sucks me in and ends up with me relentlessly playing for I don't know, 240 freaking hours (with 4-5 replays ig? And ng+ ofc). Title seems a bit contradicting, given both are linear, with Scarlet Nexus being all the less likely for categorizing as open world at all. I tend to love the free roaming and not just following one quest after another, instead going around exploring and appreciating the sights. Now I'm a big open world simpleton for games.
